BACK AND I SURVIVED :P yep lots of thing happened in the last two weeks shall do a short and sweet summary of it LOL. went to kl from 22/6-24/6, typical stuff like what happened every other year but the high point and the exciting part of the trip was my visit to te ROTATING sky restaurant :D COOL right oh geezzz the night view of kl's skyline was so beautiful tt it can make u cry LOL and the ambience in the restaurant is just too perfect for emo-ing its dark, quiet with some soft bg live band music, and lighted candles around and of course most importantly, the beautiful skyline tt u get to see just by seating down. some day i am gonna go back alone to the place, order a cup of peppermint green tea or something else tt is just as mint-y, bring in a laptop and do serious business or at least pretend to be doing so on a large and comfy couch:D IDEAL! and oh yea gotta mention this too its 24 hours! so i can even decide to fall asleep on their couch after mid-night :D haha i think it must be very fun and excting to work as a waitress there too. did crazily lots of shopping yea the clothes there are pretty cheap and nice and i ended up with a large bag full of clothing. can't get enuff of them. it was tiring to be shopping all day though. watched transformer there. but the plot is so so cliche and lame about SAVING THE WORLD. yea right the good guy is gonna win again at the end of the day.reminds my of my fav kiddo show power ranger. its abit like terminator minus some of the actions and sound plus some looks LOL. its kind of like a more toned-down version of terminator, thr this experience, i have learnt that im not really tt into action-packed shows. got home and went lalala's place to make necklace and i think i attended moe meet-up session some time in between as well. 27/6-28/6 attended scholaris, a usp talk telling us about their programme and i guess their main focus was still the Freshman orientation project. afterwards, i went for arts camp which was yeah man tiring. basically, its non-stop games and cheering. yep its fun and Awesome and personally i feel that its too hectic and packed and instead more lag time and peaceful moments should be given. food was very horrible which is very sad cos tt's like one of the most crucial part of the camp. dont get me wrong (ain't a glutton) i mean we do need lots of food for us to have enough energy to keep going all day or even in the early morning. oh we bucked in eusoff hall, room was veryvery small... its size is like less than half of my room's. LOL! pardon me for my weird lingo catching the 'yeah man' bug from arts camp. ouch, found out on 29th that i dint manage to get any room in the hall arghhh shld have applied for PGP usp blocksss!!!! geeezz or at least i shld have put PGP as one of my choices... >< im gonna do sth about this and put things right as soon as possible, i hope it not too late given my long mia period while being stuck on ulu ubin. 30/6-3/6 living an apparently simple life in ulu ubin. (yeah man they rhyme :D)....went OBS oh yeah man like i rmb swearing that i would never ever kayak in obs again last time when i went haha but i guess i did it again. this time round ironically its much more fun, perhaps its the people around tt made it really fun:D my team mates werre really great ppl who were very encouraging and caring and friendly and everything nice. my team was KURT:D basically we kind of did the same things as the sec 3 obs camp just a much more extreme version. the bag pack was still crazily heavy and backbreaking haha. the highlight of the whole trip would be the sea expedition part. whereby we got stuck in the swamp with our kayaks when the water level got way too low for kayaking. we had to step out of the kayak onto the grossly soft swamp and to fight again the sucking monster hiding under the mud. its practically impossible to walk. every step that u take, the monster would like pull u down to knee deep level and you got to thug crazily hard just to pull out your poor old leg that would look utterly unrecognisable by the time it comes out. and hopefully, the monster doesnt gobble up your shoes too. which it did to many ppl. but my brave shoes survived the ordeal, totally unscarred :D love it :D a great quality test for shoes HAHAH and its not branded k HAHA. the pushing the kayak through the swamp mission was mission impossible made possible hip hip hooray and its could only be done w the encouragement of ppl around and the extra help from ppl. its just fantastic, our teamspirit got us thr so much and it truly made me realise the power of teamwork. how everyone helped to take care of each other by stabilising others in the slippery muddy ground, coming together to form a conveyor belt to pull the kayak up the slope and Hi5-ing each other after going overcoming mission impossible. really made my day. we were a really lucky group the moment we head back out into the open sea, we met with a thunderstorm. there was lightning and strong waves and wind and the waves were practically controlling our kayak. LOL ad we had to take shelter in the swamp. the instructors instructed us to return to the swmp but unfortunately, almost half of the kayak just got washed further away from the entrance of the swamp and many were crashing onto the barricades with sharp barnicles and scary stuff. the instructors were shouting like mad for us to get away from the barnicles. as they were afraid that we would capsize onto the barricles which can turn into a bloody disaster. everyone was like shouting around and it was really scary. in the end those that just couldnt get into the swamp ended up on a small patch of shore about the size of my bedroom. we took shelter there till the storm calmed down before continuing with our 'fun' sea expedition. by the everyone was already deadbeat LOL. everyone survived unharmed. oh and come to think about it, i didnt eat much throughout except for a packet of biscuit and some peanuts lol had gastric till it didnt hurt at all anymore LOL. immune to the pain already and we even had to wash up and bathe before we had our dinner at 8 plus. the last mea i took was at 7 plus in the morning >< practically gobbled up all the food. seriously we deserve much better food than what was provided something like ice kacang, fries, peppermint green tea HAAHA. during this camp i had made lots of new friends, friendship that im sure would hold through even after the camp ended. and have also learnt that trusting team mates more would also give u the courage to overcome fears and challenges and to unveil ur true potential. i realise i am very strong and i can be even strong and nothing can scare me. HAHHAA. back to work on saturday and my colleague could tell tt i have turned darker! SAD!!! :( gave tuition at night miss me student and he is as lively and fun to talk to as always. tt's all for now folks :D
decided decided on hall and selected eusoff single room as first choice ultimately distance is still one of the biggest deciding factor for me. nites
time is running out! im trying to make a decision to stay in hall or residence. pros of staying in hall: 1. more activities 2. more fun 3. less lonely 4. dont have to think of what to have for breakfast and dinner as theres catering 5. much nearer to my fac 6. filled with fac pals cons of staying in hall: 1. i may get too busy with the random activities and i dont know whether usp workload will be alot anot. 2. maybe the rooms are abit older? 3. may get noisy and irritating pro of staying in residence 1. there's higher chance for me to get in since there's certain blocks reserved for usp students and given the fact tt my cca record is not fantastic this may be helpful 2. more conducive studying environment 3. less activities 4. more time for proper mugging HAHAHA serious mugging and whacking! 5. newer environment cons 1. may get lonely and homesick 2. may get boring 3. no catering and i may not know what to eat, may go hungry 4. very far from fac if i choose to apply for hall thr osa, i cant apply for pgp residence thr usp. its a one-choice thing and u gotta forgo the other. i have one more day to decide... gahhhhhhhhh do i take the riskier choice or the more secure one? arghh i have been thinking abt it for 2 weeks alrdy but im still having a hard time with it.
Is there absolute truth in this world? when being 'practical' is not practical i cant stand social norms and how its clouds ppl's thinking. an essay tt i have written at the start of this year. tt i would like to share and get some feedback on. Title: Is there absolute truth in this world? In this diverse and ever-changing world, we constantly challenge given answers and overturn old theories that are no longer applicable in the currently context. Answers are not always right and this is especially so when there is a paradigm shift. This leads some people to question whether there is any form of absolute truth in the first place while others would firmly insist that there must be some form of absolute truth. Before we proceed further into the discussion about whether there is absolute truth in this world, we would firstly define truth as an obvious and observed fact. The word absolute challenges the state of truth in all circumstances. Hence absolute truth is defined as whatever that is always valid, regardless of context. Absolute truth can be contrasted to relative truth, which is truth that can be both true and false, depending on one’s point of view. I think that absolute truth does exist to a small extent in our universe at the current point in time even though relative truth do exist as well due to human’s limited intelligence and constantly developing technology. Protagoras, a famous Greek philosopher once said, “Man is the measure of all things, of the existence of things that are and of the non-existence of things that are not.” Truth is based on personal perception and there is no absolute truth. What tastes sweet to a person may taste bitter to another. I feel that not all truth is absolute truth. Throughout history, theories have evolved and some truth accepted in one era was constantly refuted by new discoveries. Take for example the medieval idea about the sun rotating around the earth. This ideology was taken as the absolute truth in the past and no one believed Galileo when he later discovered that the earth was actually rotating around the sun. It was only after many years later before it was accepted as the new truth. By studying human history, we can observe that truth upheld by a community can be easily overturned by new discoveries. Likewise, there is no guarantee that the truth accepted today will not be overturned by new discoveries in the future. We can never reach the best state of technology and intelligence as the best is always relative to the previous condition and there is no maximum point. A study by Ray Kurzweil has shown that technological change is exponential. We are unable to tell the highest point of technology and intelligence that we can ever reach. Even if we were to be able to gauge this one day, all the truth discovered by human may still not be the absolute truth as human intelligence is limited and we can never be certain that there are no other existence with higher intelligence. In other words, we may never know what the highest possible level of intelligence is. Hence, we can never be certain of any truth. However, there is some absolute truth as well. These are fixed truth that have been observed or experienced in the past and the event will not be repeated again. Such absolute truth included personal memories of past encounters and historical events. They are absolute truth as they have already happened and will never be repeated again. One example would be the fact that Barack Obama is the first Blackman to become a US president. In other words, their truth has been fixed in the past and can never be changed, assuming that there is no human error or discrepancy in the records or memory. Grappling with the issue that relative truth is in existence can be discomforting as it also implies that anyone can be right in their opinion and there is no clear demarcation between the right and the wrong. This can give rise to chaotic situations such as moral relativism and cultural relativism. Nevertheless, as we are all living in a community and are interdependent, there must be a set of standards and perceptions to be accepted as the truth. This set of standards and perceptions is usually agreed upon by the majority in a community in a paradigm and is used to maintain organisation and to create a direction for individuals. The set of standards and perceptions can be passed on to the future generations through nature and nurture. However, it does not imply that the set of standards and perceptions will always remain the same. This is the reason why there are always ongoing debates on the reliability of theories, especially in the realms of economics and science. Moral and ethical debates are also ongoing. Not long ago, the manipulation and usage of stem cells was strongly condemned as it destroys lived. However, in less than a decade, the manipulation and usage of stem cell for research and therapeutic purpose is gradually being accepted in the biomedical field. Indeed, we do not have static moral and ethical value and what can be socially accepted should be a set of values that truly optimise the well-being of everyone, be it the current generation or the future generations. Most forms of truth lives in nature and are ever-changing. On one extreme, we have truth that is sealed absolutes as history in museums, recordings, prints and most importantly, memory. Knowing all absolute truth in the world is impossible but it should still stay on as the ultimate goal. In the process of working towards discovering all absolute truth, I believe mankind will gain greater insight into the value and purpose of life, explore and immerse oneself in the excitement and euphoria attained in the process of discovery.
crazy world stuff happened this week that got me scared, irritated, annoyed, shocked, angry hah, sudden notice that i need to take blood test the next day hello? nearly got a tetanus jab for 'fun', i cant trust my health booklet which seems to be against me at times.i have better faith in my memory of pain. flagging for a bus with a 'VERY SMART' driver who decided on his own accord that i deserve sth much better than his stupid bus. Perhaps i really do deserve a limo instead LOL finding out that i should seriously start a we-hate-cityhall campaign, the bus connection there is just too messy! and 'smart' drivers just serve to make it worst! meeting the most annoying star-er ever in my entire life, that idiot cant get more exaggerated. 190 really rocks! yep haha i shld focus more on my goals like setting up and promoting blogshop, perfecting my eng lang speaking and writing skills, and breaking out of my fear of perceptions. oh and also to read up more one econs stuff to recap. these are more short term goals before uni starts.
nature's artwork
took this random picture (raw picture without editing taken with my hp cam)while walking home after tuition at night, the shadowy effects caused by the trees along the road is really nice, but i can seem to capture the exact ambience >< my next hobby would be photography and to get a professional cam! HAHA there's just too many lovely sights around and i wanna capture the perfect pictures and views.
in a state of confusion haha still not working happily wandering around.not totally gave tuition in the morn. the student is good today. :D went to watch dance subaru, window-shopped the whole day and didnt buy anything at all. LOL seriously sg too small no where to go and all the things are the same i can like tell u what are the things sold in sg already after all the window shopping. and 190 was so crowded, cant breathe and move at all on the bus home. and i realise my break is too short haha and perhaps i should get more LOL time fliesss! and i still have lotz to do. and i got an acceptance email today finally kind of came as a surprise/shock as i has already convinced myself that its ok if im not accepted and im probably not since it took so long. but still im kind of happy but confuse now on whether i shld really accept it. im afraid it might be too competitive and hectic.
subway is a great saver went out to have lunch with jean and cat. subway offers a really good deal, a filling and delicious and hopefully as healthy as it appears to be(one 6 inch sandwich, 2 cookies, and drink- with a full range of sandwiches to choose from) for only 5.90. very worth it :D and good thing we were there early to miss the lunch crowd at marina. later on went strolling around with cat, while trying to find a safer and proper way to get across the road to suntec city. apparently, there's no legal way around and everyone was like jaying? lol wanted to find a good place to chat but seriously theres no quiet free spot anywhere within our sight. had to leave early to tutor my student. but we cant find any bus stop near suntec! and had to walk all the way back to cityhall area. and even when we were there, the bus stops either did not ave buses going to bukit timah or tt we were simply in the wrong direction. basically we had a work out trying to find the bus stop. THANK YOU cat for pei-ing me while finding the hidden bus stop. will definitely treat u to a big galere hah! LOL. do they have up-size or sth? in the end i cab down cos it was getting abit too late. >< but we have learnt an impt lesson, a lesson about bus directions and the different buses available at each stop! arghh anyone wanna go for a jog or sth? i wanna get myself moving havent done so for way too long but simply cant pull myself out. maybe someone can help? LOL just tell me if u wanna to :D or a game of badminton, tennis, cycling? i dont mind most sports but i do have a phobia of flying balls. arghh and usp ignored my email totally. they dint reply me, dont bother to mail me, dont bother to call me >< think i will wait 'patiently' for one more day before calling them back. i cant wait any longer....
its a good thing that i didnt know who you were then finally a holiday on a saturday :D tutoring one of my student in the morn and i think he seriously doesnt respect me enough. which kind of pissed me off quite abit. this reminds me of something...sometimes people speak as though they know alot, when in fact they are totally unaware that the listener knows even more. i dont know whether i saved them by keeping quiet or should i have simply shot them down on the spot? am i being too considerate sometimes? these ppl simply irks me. yea i am seriously a big time hypocrite sometimes. luckily many of such ppl are no longer within my sight and hearing range anymore. peace! :D went out with jean to shop for dear ek's birthday present and had an super late lunch-dinner :D haha had a hard time trying to decide what to get her, deciding what she would prefer and not what we would prefer. yep hope she will love the gift of course :D had fun chatting and shopping around instead of copping myself at home. but seriously its too crowded in the mall.
managed to fulfill 2 of my wishes already and when can i finally know whether my 3rd wish has been fulfilled as well???? i emailed usp ytd to find out about my status cos i simply cant wait anymore. hopefully they will reply,.. REALLLY hope for the best. but i am prepared already, whichever is the result. HAVE FAITHHHHH!!!! :D
nites and i gotta sleep early and have waffle crisp for dinner-supper LOL i am getting all my meal timing wrong.
HAVE FAITHHH!!!!
happy birthday sis chan! had the session with the dear o cat in the morning while munching on delicous hotcakes. totally din expect the mac at lucky plaza to be so crowded and noisy. i tot its suppose to be ulu. LOL talked and discussed about lots of random stuff. enjoyed the chat while eavesdropping on some other ppl's convo at the same time LOL, apparently the person is some ex-njcian discussing some insurance policy with some agent LOL."luckily" their convo is not interesting enough to keep us attentive. HAH thanks cat for going around with me to look for my sister's shoe bag and a purse for myself aha and apparently she found her own purse too but i did not. haha later on i went to meet my dear sec sch buddies for a late lunch in the same old place, breeeekks. yep their food there is good, love their mash potato and coleslaw. its like the best around. however, the food i had today was abit too salty. disappointing. chatted lots again.,, i think today was like a talking marathon for me lol AND I RAN OUT OF THE WATER IN MY BOTTLE >< we went wandering around before deciding that theres no where to go in the boring same o orchard. we ended up heading out of town. yep and i managed to find my wallet finally, or was it more like i gave up on the search and simply resorted to buying one which is too common. its nice, just that too many ppl have it already. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A WALLET FOR ONE MONTH ALREADY. ><
in the evening, celebrated sis chan's birthday in ajisen. good food and "good" price too.. hope she enjoyed herself and HAPPY BIRTHDAY AH MEI! :D cheerssssss!
